Morning LATTE (Louisiana Technical Talk Extravaganza)

Morning LATTE

On Thursday, June 5th, the LSU Geology & Geophysics Department held its first ever Morning LATTE Student/Faculty Lecture Series, sponsored by the GEEK Club (Geomicrobiology in Extreme Environments and Karst), AAPG Student Chapter, and the Geology Club. Graduate student, Eric Prokocki, gave a talk on his research of the Holocene Alluvial Belt Palaeohydrology and Avulsion History of the Lower Mississippi Valley (LMV). Both faculty and students attended to learn more about research going on within the department. The idea for this lecture series came about in an effort to improve communication and learning in the department. The clubs hope to get more students and faculty involved in these shorter, informal talks in order to encourage feedback and increase awareness of research opportunities and resources within the department. Each month will incoporate a theme where a different student or faculty member will present information on this topic, as others sit and learn while sipping coffee and eating beignets!
