Instrumentation in Geomicrobiology Labs

     Here's how it all started...

Students working at the computers in the adjacent office space in E301 Howe-Russell Geoscience Complex.

October 2005

Audrey Aronowsky (post-doc) and Robin Reger dissecting isopods from Frasassi Caves, Italy. They are interested in what microbes are living within the guts of the isopods, as endosymbionts.

Kelli Willson working with her samples from the Edwards Aquifer, Texas. Kelli is preparing calcite for scanning electron microscopy in the biological safety cabinet.

June 2005 - working away.... gotta love it!

Here's how it all started...

Geomicrobiology Lab in E302 Howe-Russell gets a
Face-Lift!  Oct 2004 - Demolition begins and
there is progress!

Geomicrobiology Lab Oct 2004 -
Progress continues and wall come out.

Walls and ceiling are taken out...

Metal studs and electricity get removed...

Geomicrobiology Lab Jan 2005 -
Walls are gone, and the new floor goes in!

Geomicrobiology Lab Feb 2005 -
The ceiling goes in after the lab benches!

Geomicrobiology Molecular Lab Feb 2005.
Things are coming together.

Early March - we're doing stuff...

Almost there...

April 2005 - Almost 6 months since the start of demolition, the lab is almost there. Look at those great lab chairs....
